Announcements from the nurse's office:
Physician documentation is necessary for any chronic illness that a student has been diagnosed with (asthma, ADHD, Diabetes). Physician orders to the nurse are needed for administration of any prescription medications that need to be given at school. Parents need to sign a request for administration of any over the counter medication . All of this documentation needs to be renewed at the beginning of each school year in order to be honored by the school.
H1N1 Resource Videos:
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Health, has produced two videos to inform parents and school personnel of the steps they can take to prevent the spread of H1N1 A Influenza (also known as “swine flu”) and seasonal influenza.

Too sick for school?
It's often hard for parents to decide if their child is too sick to go to school. Pediatrician's advice or the school's rules should be a first consideration. However, the below considerations for keeping children at home may be helpful.
Keep your child at home if your child has:
*A temperature of 100 degrees or more in the past four hours
* Persistent nasal discharge
*A persistent heavy cough
*Skin eruptions or undiagnosed rash
*Any redness of the eyelid linings or irritation of the eyes followed by swelling or discharge
*Vomiting
*Difficult or rapid breathing
*Diarrhea (more than one abnormally loose stool in a 24-hour period)
*A communicable condition such as chicken pox, conjunctivitis, German measles,mumps, measles, or strep throat
