The next JROTC-sponsored American Red Cross Blood Drive is scheduled for April 26 and 27, and if past donations from the SHS community are any indicator, we are on track to exceed 2,000 units collected since we started sponsoring these life-changing events!
To make this momentous occasion even more exciting, JROTC, DE Advanced Marketing, and DECA are combining forces to promote and recruit blood donors and local business sponsors.
*SHS Clubs and Organizations Competition: The Club or Organization that has the most donors sign up and show up to give blood over the two-day event will win a “Bloody Party” during Packer Block the week after the blood drive, featuring free lunch, punch, and dessert, as well as an “I Got Stuck for a Bloody Party” t-shirt and other exclusive “goodies.”
*Teacher Incentives: If students make a concerted effort to donate, per Mr. Thrift, teachers may offer incentives like a Homework Pass, 5 extra points on a grade (teacher’s choice), or another incentive that the teacher deems appropriate.
*Challenge to Administrators and Central Office Staff: We are challenging school administrators and Central Office staff who are able to donate blood to throw down the gauntlet to our faculty, students, and local community by signing up early to get the ball rolling toward surpassing the 2,000 units mark. We’d like to see at least 15 appointments set for administrators and Central Office staff by April 18.
*Calling Local Businesses, #1!: We are calling on local business owners to donate gift cards, coupons, or in-kind products and services to provide to blood donors during the blood drive, and also to use as prizes for our Raffle Drawing -- every donor will receive a raffle ticket as an incentive for donating blood, and we would love to be able to promote your business. If you donate these, we are happy to feature your business logo and link in our promotional efforts, and put up your sign at the donation site.
*Calling Local Businesses, #2!: Help us exceed our goal by encouraging your employees to sign up and show up to donate blood during our drive! Make it a Bloody Donor Day, wear your company shirts, and we’ll make it a photo op to help promote your business!
