Camryn Hicks, a rising Junior at Smithfield High School (SHS), has been selected to represent her school as a student liaison to the School Board. She joins Senior Connor Walters who is the current student liaison from Windsor High School. Hicks serves as the Media Relations Officer for the Library Advisory Council and the Spanish Honor Society. She is a member of the Debate Team and Beta Club. She also assisted in painting the new mural in the Community Room at Sentara St. Luke’s in Carrollton. Hicks has a strong interest in government and politics and hopes her time as liaison will provide her a better understanding of the role of elected officials. She resides in Carrollton with her parents, Joseph and Calandra Hicks. Students apply for the liaison position and interview with a panel of division administrators. Hicks will serve a two-year term on the Board.
