Smithfield High School ninth grader Colin Stephenson has been selected as a STEM Student Ambassador with the National Institute of Aerospace’s Center for Integrative STEM Education (NIA-CISE) for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Colin was chosen from a competitive pool of regional high school students for this prestigious honor. This summer, he completed a rigorous training program that included webinars, in-person sessions, and workplace readiness modules through Virginia Tech. Colin also played a leadership role in organizing and presenting a STEM outreach event that brought together scientists, engineers, and NIA staff.
As a Student Ambassador, Colin will promote STEM education across the region, share engaging NASA and aerospace-related content, and help build an inclusive and collaborative STEM community.
Congratulations to Colin for representing Smithfield High School and Isle of Wight County Schools in this exciting program!
