Isle of Wight County Schools has been closely monitoring the forecast for Monday, December 8. Current reports from the National Weather Service indicate that wintry precipitation is expected to begin mid-morning, with temperatures dropping throughout the day. This pattern creates the potential for treacherous travel conditions, particularly on neighborhood streets and the many backroads throughout our county.
Out of an abundance of caution, Isle of Wight County Schools will be closed on Monday, December 8, 2025, for all students and staff. All after-school and evening activities scheduled for Monday are also canceled.
Isle of Wight County Schools routinely relies on forecasted weather to make decisions about emergency schedule changes, always putting safety at the forefront. By announcing this change now, rather than waiting until early Monday morning or attempting an early dismissal, we hope to give families and staff as much time as possible to plan and prepare.
Our commitment to the safety and well-being of the IWCS community guides every weather-related decision we make. We understand that schedule changes can create challenges for families and staff, and we are grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work to keep everyone safe.
