Isle of Wight County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26, for all students and staff due to treacherous road conditions across the county.
While many main roads may be clear, numerous back roads remain covered in ice, and we do not expect conditions to improve before Monday morning. These conditions create unsafe travel for school buses, staff, and families.
In addition, several IWCS buildings are currently without power, which impacts our ability to safely open schools on Monday.
As a reminder, high school exams originally scheduled for Monday have been moved to Monday, February 2. We will continue to monitor road conditions throughout Monday and will notify families and staff as soon as possible if there are any changes to the schedule.
Our commitment to the safety and well-being of the IWCS community guides every weather-related decision we make. We understand that schedule changes can be inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep students, staff, and families safe.
Thank you.
