Isle of Wight County Schools will remain closed on Tuesday, January 27, for all students and staff. High school exams originally scheduled for today and tomorrow will be moved to Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3. Second Semester will begin on Wednesday, February 4.
Student Holidays – January 28–30
There will be no changes to the schedule for Wednesday, January 28, through Friday, January 30. These days will remain Student Holidays and Employee Work/Professional Learning days, as previously scheduled. Should there be any changes, employees will be notified as soon as possible.
Emergency services and county personnel have advised that more than half of the back roads across Isle of Wight County have not been cleared. In addition to continued icy road conditions, downed and hanging branches and trees present further hazards for buses and other vehicles. Ongoing power outages at multiple IWCS facilities also continue to impact our ability to safely open schools.
Considering all of these factors, IWCS has determined that the safest decision is to remain closed on Tuesday.
Our commitment to the safety and well-being of the IWCS community guides every decision we make. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and continued support as we work to keep students, staff, and families safe.
