         The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you of some important dates and the process for paying senior dues.  You can go to the Smithfield High School homepage at any time to search for important dates and events. Once you are on the school’s homepage, click Parents, then choose Senior Newson the right of the screen.  There you will find frequently asked questions and updated information about senior activities.

There will a senior meeting held on September 12, 2019 in the auditorium during packer block. We will discuss events that will be happening throughout the school year and answer any questions you may have.  Also candidates that filled out an application for senior class officer, will be giving their persuasion speech to the senior class at this time.  Voting for senior class officers will be held on Friday, September 13 during packer block.  

 

Jostens (Byrone Thorne) will be on campus to give a graduation presentation to the Class of 2020 on September 17, 2019.  This will be held in the auditorium during packer block. Items to discuss will include cap and gown, packer package, class rings, etc.

 

 Parent night will be held on Thursday, September 19 from 5pm to 630pm.  A Jostens representative will be available to take orders and answer any questions. 

 

 

 

SENIOR DUES

 

Amount:  $75

Dues should be paid as soon as possible. Dues can be paid to Mrs. Pruden (office) or Mrs. Mayes (Senior Sponsor, Rm 25)

 Cash, Check, or Money Order will be accepted

 

WHAT DOES SENIOR DUES PAY FOR?

Diploma, Printing Fees for Diploma, Diploma Cover, Printing of Graduation Tickets, Printing of Programs for Graduation, Honor Graduate Stoles and Tassels, Senior Week Activities, Senior T-shirt, Senior Breakfasts (throughout the year), Senior give-a-ways.

 

 

Just a Friendly Reminder for Seniors: A GOLD card (with students name) and a receipt will be issued to each student when dues are paid. The GOLD card will be used to participate in all senior events. If you do not show your gold card to the staff member, you will not be permitted to enter into the events area or you will not bepermitted to eat in the senior courtyard.  Your GOLD card is very important!!!! Guard it with your life!!!!  Please see Mrs. Mayes in room 25 for your gold card. Gold Cards will be available the first week of school. 

 

 

Cap and Gown Orders

Senior dues do not cover cap and gown. All cap and gown orders will be done through the Jostens website.  Each student will be asked to provide his/her height and weight for proper graduation gown fitting.  Please be as accurate as possible. Your Jostens representative is Byrone Thorne.

 

 

Senior Expenses

  • Senior Portraits and Yearbook: Independent of senior dues. Senior portrait Makeups will be held September 26 and 27. Students please listen for the morning and afternoon announcements for signups.  A reminder will be sent out using the remind app.  Please see Mrs. Healy for more information.

 

  • Cap and Gown Orders: A Jostens representative will be taking cap and gown orders during lunches. A station will be set up in the commons across from the office. Dates are listed below. You may also order online, Jostens.com

 

       September 24 and 25         December 10

       October 30                     November 19

 

  If you are ordering the “Packer Package,” the deposit for that order will be $25.00 and you will be billed for the balance.  If you are ordering the cap and gown only, the cost will be $33.00 + tax.

 

*Note: The price of cap and gown will increase if ordered after December 18.  January 1, 2020, the total price will be $43.00 + tax  (Per Jostens)
