Cell Phone Use for the 2024-25 School Year
Personal electronic devices, including cell phones, can be major distractions in the classroom. Their use during instructional time disrupts learning and prevents students from fully engaging with the material. In accordance with Governor Youngkin’s Executive Order #33, which guides schools to establish cell phone-free learning environments to support student success, Smithfield High School is committed to providing a healthy learning environment free from cell phones throughout the school day. Therefore, our policy prohibits the use of cell phones, earbuds, and other personal electronic devices on campus from 7:10 AM to 2:45 PM. This aligns with state regulations and is essential for maintaining a conducive learning environment. We expect all students to adhere to these rules.
